The Advocate’s Office has a Youth Involvement Opportunity!

The deadline for submission is JUNE 29, 2018.

The Ontario Child Advocate is seeking young people who have experience with Residential Placement Advisory Committee’s (RPAC’s) within the Province of Ontario. We are currently seeking 12 young people to sit on an Advisory Committee to assist the Advocate’s Office with their report on Residential Placement Advisory Committees.

Young people involved with this opportunity would be expected to meet with staff at the Advocate’s Office for Advisory Meetings where they would be given the opportunity to discuss changes they would like to see take place within the Residential Advisory Committees to make them more effective and accessible for young people.

Advisory Members will receive an honorarium for their work.

Travel, meals and accommodations necessary for these meetings will also be covered for youth and, if necessary, their chaperone.

We are looking for young people who are:

  • Under the age of 24
  • Have experience in one of the following settings:
    • Foster Homes
    • Group Homes
    • Youth Justice (Open and Closed Settings)
    • Children’s Mental Health Residential Care
  • Interested in sharing your experiences and ideas related to RPAC’s or your efforts to move from one residence to another
  • Willing to commit to meeting at least two times in 2018 for an Advisory Meeting

In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, upon request, accommodation will be provided by the Advocate's Office throughout the selection and/or assessment process to applicants with disabilities.

The Advocate’s Office is committed to building an organization that reflects the diversity of the province. We encourage applications from individuals who represent a diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and communities.
